Warwick - An Historic English Town

Located in the county of Warwickshire, the town of Warwick is a memorable destination. Whether you are young or old you will find sights and activities that will give you a memorable experience of this quaint English town.

Warwick has been built on the banks of the meandering River Avon and is most commonly associated with the great Bard, William Shakespeare. The rolling countryside and picturesque villages that abound in the area have helped to inspire countless numbers of artists and poets with their timeless appeal.

Within the town itself the most well known building is the towering castle. In many English towns the castle or fort would have been destroyed a long time ago. Luckily, in Warwick, the construction is still standing as proud as the day it was finished. It now attracts thousands of visitors as do the old Tudor era properties that can be found dotted around the streets.

To get your heart racing you can plan a trip to Warwick Racetrack. This hosts exciting race meetings throughout the year. Alternatively you could choose to book a room in the town and venture out to explore the rural surroundings.

There are some very famous walks and landscapes in this part of the British Isles. There are well worn or remote trails that can take you hiking through the Malvern Hills or the Welsh Borders. Wherever you go you will find the local population courteous and friendly at all times. There are many interesting village restaurants and bars complete with old world charm that you will stumble across on most walks.

As this part of the UK is renowned for its cultural heritage don't be surprised if you happen to see various outdoor street entertainers and performers. In the summer months there are interesting carnival and out door music events. There is a large student population in the town that help to ensure there is always something going on.

It is not difficult to reach Warwick from the larger towns of Worcester and Birmingham in less than one hour. If you are travelling further afield from Liverpool or London then expect the journey to take a little over two hours. The town has excellent rail and road connections to all parts of the UK.

If you are looking for a destination to spend just a few days or a longer break then Warwick and Warwickshire will not disappoint. In fact it is the type of place that you will want to return to again and again.
